LAWRENCE – Join Limestone Community School and Tenants to Homeowners for Affordable Housing 101
For Immediate release
On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, The students of Limestone Community School, working in partnership with Tenants to
Homeowners, Inc. will present Affordable Housing 101; a place-based educational event focused on affordable housing. The event is free and open to the public.
The Housing decisions made by today’s leadership create the reality inherited by the families, workers, and change-makers of tomorrow.
With this ethos in mind, the students of Limestone Community School have endeavored to investigate, research, and present on current practices, challenges, and potential solutions to the issues affordable housing is facing here in Lawrence/Douglas County. This speed-dating-styled educational event offers 7 education stations, each administered by 2-3 students, offering a unique focus fueled by original research.
Participating attendees will spend a total of 8 minutes at each information station. At the 8 minute mark, participants will transition to the next station (speed dating style). By visiting each station, the public will accumulate a comprehensive understanding of the current practices, challenges, and potential solutions to the issues of affordable housing faced in our community.
For any queries that may remain, The Limestone students will offer a Next Steps panel discussion with Q&A opportunity for the public.
If you are a change maker, policy informer, community leader, or community member poised to support affordable housing initiatives through direct philanthropy or through a property that you own, please consider attending.
After considering, please attend 🙂
